WOZNIAK ENDS JANKOVIC HOPES

Jelena Jankovic has been defeated in the second round of the Rogers Cup by Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada. Wozniak won the match in the straight sets by 6-2, 6-3. The Serbian tennis star, who is ranked 18th in the official rankings of WTA, made a lot of mistakes in the match and didn’t hit enough winners. She lost the game in just 91 minutes. This was the fifth match between these two players and Wozniak defeated Jankovic for the first time.

Jankovic didn’t start the match too well. Her service was broken by Wozniak in the second game of the first set. Wozniak won the first three games of the first set in a row and made the score 3-0. In the next two games, both the players held their service and the score was 4-1 at the end of the fifth game.

Wozniak got the second breakthrough in the sixth game to take a lead of 5-1. However, Jankovic came back to break the service of Wozniak in the seventh game, but, that didn’t matter much. Wozniak held his service in the next game to win the first set by 6-2, thrilling the thousands of sports fans back in her home country who watch live sport online. In the second set, Wozniak got a breakthrough in the fourth game to take a lead of 3-1. She kept that lead till the end to win the match.

Wozniak, who is also the local girl, seemed to be pretty happy with her performance in the match. In the post match press conference, she said that it’s always nice to beat a player who is higher in ranking than you. As per Wozniak, Jankovic is an experienced player, but, it wasn’t her day.

After losing the match, Jankovic told the tennis latest news websites that Wozniak played pretty sensibly and grabbed the opportunities that came her way. She played well and she deserved to win. In the third round, Wozniak will play against Christina McHale of USA.
