OUT IN THE FIRST

Jelena Jankovic has been defeated in the very first round of the Women’s tennis singles tournament of London Olympics by Serena Williams. Serena won the match with ease. The scorecard 6-3, 6-1 itself tells the story of the match. The match was completely one sided. Serena Williams has been in amazing form since the last one month. She won the Wimbledon Championship a few days back. She didn’t give Jankovic even a single chance to come back in the match.

In the fourth game of the first set, Serena broke the service of Jankovic and took a lead of 3-1 in the first set. Thereafter, she save her service in the remaining games and won the first set 6-3. In the second set, Serena dominated Jankovic. She broke Jankovic’s service twice in the second set and won the second set easily by 6-1. By giving such an impressive performance in the very first round, Serena Williams has shown why she is considered as the top favourite to win the Gold medal.

After the match, Serena told the reporters that she was under a bit of pressure in the first set, but, once she broke the service of Jankovic in the fourth game, she relaxed a bit. As per Serena, she played well today. She was hitting the ball well and it is always good to start a tournament with such an impressive performance. On the other hand, Jankovic was highly disappointed after being defeated in the very first round. She said that she made a lot of mistakes in the match and allowed Serena to dominate her. As per Jankovic, she came to London with the dream of winning the gold medal, but, losing the very first match in this fashion is a terrible feeling.
